Following all the other pretty excellent Mega Man collections, it now looks like the Mega Man Zero and ZX games will be getting a collection of their very own.
That’s a total of six pretty sizeable Mega Man games and unlike the earlier collections, this one has more of a portable twist.
This is because the Mega Man Zero games were originally released on the Game Boy Advance and the two ZX games were made for the Nintendo DS.
Compared to the mainline Mega Man games or the Mega Man X series, these games have the kind of focus you would expect from handheld titles and having them more widely available again is definitely welcomed.
The only poignant aspect about this collection is that the Mega Man Zero and ZX games were developed by IntiCreates. While I love that studio for making Speed Power Gunbike, they also more recently worked on Mighty No. 9.
That was meant to be an updated version of the Mega Man games but that sadly turned out to be a functional travesty of a game.
So being able to go back and play these classic Mega Man games again does help to make up for Mighty No. 9 and remind us that IntiCreates did know at one point how to make these types of games well.
Mega Man Zero/ZX Legacy Collection is released on January 21 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
